Friendship is a somewhat hidden stat in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that has various effects on Pokemon. Some Pokemon even need Friendship to evolve! This guide covers how to check Friendship and how to raise Friendship in Pokemon BDSP.

- Catch the Pokemon in a Luxury Ball (purchased at Poke Marts after a certain Gym Badge)
- Get it a Massage in Veilstone City (building pictured above!)
- Use Vitamins on the Pokemon
- Use the Pokemon in battle
- Allow the Pokemon to hold the item Soothe Bell (which you can get inside the The Pokemon Mansion)
- Keep them in your party as you travel (and walk).
- Feed them certain berries that say "raise friendliness." These also lower Effort Values
- Use them in Super Contests in Hearthome City
How to Lower Friendship
- Allow the Pokemon to faint in battle
- Use bitter items on the Pokemon
- Keep the Pokemon stored in the PC
- Trade the Pokemon
Note: Trading a Pokemon reverts its Friendship to its base point
How to Check Friendship in Pokemon BDSP
There's a Poketch App called the Friendship Checker that can be acquired in Eterna City. Simply head inside the Pokemon Center and speak to a girl there - she'll give you the app.
Then, tab over to the Friendship Checker on the Poketch, and tap and hold on the Pokemon you want to check. The more, and bigger, the hearts, the friendlier they are.
Pokemon That Evolve with Friendship
Certain Pokemon can only evolve if they are friendly enough toward you. Sometimes Friendship is needed along with an item, select time, or select location to evolve
